Several cities around the US are suing companies that manufacture firearms for the costs related to 'gun' violence. This is even more absurd than suing tobacco companies.
While REAL, LIVE criminals are terrorizing private citizens, these city governments have decided to go after companies that are not breaking the law.
'Guns Don't Kill People-I Do.'
Remember that SNL skit spoofing NRA adds that stated 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people.' The thing is, it's true. Guns do not kill people. A gun is an inanimate object. It doesn't have a mind. It can not do anything on its own.
Crime is a legitimate social problem. Perhaps some progress could be made against it if city councilmen and mayors would stop wasting time on stupid lawsuits and work on the actual problems.
If they honestly believe that a disarmed America would be a safer America, they need to amend the Constitution, and pass legislation outlawing the possession, purchase, or manufacture of guns.
If a drunk driver, driving a Buick Skylark, smashes into a bus and kills 16 children, who is responsible. Is the maker of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer responsible for the accident? Did a can of beer leap into the driver's seat and steer the car in oncoming traffic?
Is GM responsible? Did the Buick suddenly take charge and launch a kamikaze attack on a school bus?
Or is the driver, some idiot(I hate drunk driving) who got drunk then chose to get behind the wheel responsible? YES!
The responsibility for the accident rests on the drunk driver-he made the choice to break the law.
The responsibility for a shooting death rests on the person holding the gun. 100%.
